Portraitist Henri Martinie (1896-1948), is particularly well known in the literary and artistic fields. From his Parisian studio in the rue de Penthièvre, he produced between 1920 and 1940 an exceptional collection of photographs of French and foreign writers visiting Paris. He also photographed painters, musicians, directors and actors, not forgetting politicians. Through his ""tight"" portraits, a kind of dissection of faces, Henri Martinie creates a very identifiable and remarkable style that appeals to the viewer.
